Our Story

Battaglia Distributing was founded by Agostino Battaglia in 1902. A native of Sicily, Agostino immigrated to the United States in 1880 and settled in Chicago to raise a family and start a family business. Originally located on South Water Market, Battaglia's roots are in the produce business. Frank Battaglia, Agostino’s son, took over the business in 1939 and developed it into the broadline foodservice distributor that it is today.

Battaglia Distributing is now owned and operated by the family’s third generation, and is conveniently located just southwest of the Chicago Loop in the Pilsen neighborhood. Battaglia Distributing boasts 250,000 square feet of warehouse space, a fleet of 45 refrigerated delivery trucks and semis, an on-site USDA meat plant, and a state-of-the-art cheese processing plant, as well as, an on-demand corrugated die cutting and printing facility. Unlike some other local distributors in town, Battaglia Distributing is still privately held, which affords unparalleled flexibility to meet your individual needs.

Battaglia Distributing has been a member of the Unipro buying group since 1981, so although independent, our group affiliation enables us to service your needs throughout the United States as your business requires. Whether you are a pizzeria or a white tablecloth restaurant, a single location in Chicago or stretching coast to coast, Battaglia Distributing is both capable and committed to furnish your foodservice needs.
